Key Air Conditioning Company began business in the mid 1940’s. The company was a well-established firm dedicated to servicing its clients. Their main business came from negotiated work. Several of its core employees continued the “Key Air Conditioning” name and tradition after the Owners retired in 1992 by starting a new company in 1993 and naming it KEY AIR CONDITIONING CONTRACTORS, INC.
The Corporation is currently certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).
The Corporation has successfully completed in excess of $500,000,000 of HVAC construction since 1993, mostly in the Southern California area, although projects have been completed as far away as Toronto, Ontario, Canada and La Paz, Baja California, Mexico.
The largest single project completed to date is the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), Interior Improvements and Baggage Screening System, Los Angeles, California. This project possessed a forty-two (42) month construction schedule and ended successfully and on time February 2010 with a final contract amount of approximately $23,400,000 (Twenty-Three Million Four Hundred Thousand Dollars), bonded.
Mr. Richard Rivera is President of Key Air and KMI Engineers. He oversees all operations of both companies and also presides as Chairman for the Board of Directors. Mr. Rivera’s work experience while employed by Key Air Conditioning Company from 1975 through 1992 progressed from Estimating and Project Management, through Sales and Marketing, and into Senior Management. Mr. Rivera served as their Chief Estimator, Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, Purchasing Agent, and Sales Manager during his employ. Mr. Rivera also served as Vice President of Key Air Conditioning Company, Inc. with direct responsibility for Sales and Marketing, Estimating, Project Management, and Shop and Field Labor.
Mr. Larry Stikeleather is Vice President and has direct responsibility for all Sales and Marketing efforts for data centers, telecommunication facilities, clean rooms, laboratories and utility companies located in Southern California. Mr. Stikeleather also is the Safety Director for the company. He is directly responsible for training, injury reporting and OSHA compliance.
Mr. Robert Donat is Vice President/Secretary, for Key Air and Vice President of KMI Engineers. His duties include customer and client development in addition to his sales and projecting duties. He has the direct responsibility of overseeing cost estimating, shop and field labor, and project management.
Our project experience ranges from Data Centers, Central Plants, Tenant Improvement, High Rise to specialized industrial process and production facilities. Key Air has performed a diverse scope of work throughout the years and is well versed in replacement of existing air handling units, chillers and cooling towers while the facilities remained fully operational. Other types of systems completed range from standard comfort conditioning to the most stringent of microelectronic and pharmaceutical clean room facilities.
Key Air is a signatory contractor and employs all of its shop, field and CAD/BIM personnel through the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association Local Union 105 and Local Union 250.
Key Air is a full service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) Contractor located in Santa Fe Springs, California. All of our operations are managed from this location, which includes a complete, automated sheet metal fabrication facility capable of producing in excess of 1,000,000 (One Million) pounds of fabricated ductwork annually.
